# Atlas and the calendar

> What Atlas can read and do on the calendar, the permissions it follows, and how undo works

**Atlas**, your workspace assistant, can work the calendar for you: look up appointments and free slots, book, move, cancel and confirm, answer your invitations, and — for admins — set up professionals and services. Ask in plain language: *"Book Emma Johnson for a cardiology check tomorrow at 10"*, *"What does Dr. Carter have on Friday?"*, *"Move appointment 749 to Monday morning"*.

Atlas isn't the calendar tool your client-facing agents use. That one is configured per agent — see [The calendar tool for agents](/en/calendar/agent-tool).

## Before you start

<Check>
  A **Calendar** permission — Admin, View All or View Own. Atlas sees exactly what you see in the agenda.
</Check>

<Check>
  For setup work (professionals and services), **Calendar** Admin.
</Check>

## What Atlas can read

| Ask about | What you get |
| - | - |
| **Appointments** | A client's or a professional's appointments in a date range, or one appointment by ID — time, service, status, professional |
| **Attendees** | Who's on an appointment: the booker, guests, co-professionals, their answers and confirmation status, and the messages sent to each |
| **Free slots** | Real available times for a service, a professional and a date range — the same slots the New Event window offers |
| **Metrics** | AI success rate, bookings today, reschedules and appointments this week — within what you can see |
| **Setup** | Professionals, services, booking rules, appointment types |
| **Your invitations** | Appointments you've been invited to and haven't answered |

## What Atlas can do

| Action | Who can ask | Notes |
| - | - | - |
| **Book an appointment** | Anyone who can book in the agenda | For one client; Atlas finds the client by name or phone and confirms the match with you |
| **Reschedule** | The appointment's organizer, or an accepted co-professional with **Can reschedule** (time only) | Same rule as dragging a card |
| **Cancel** | Organizers only — the main professional or a calendar Admin | Late-cancellation rules apply |
| **Confirm** | Organizers | Status *Booked* → *Confirmed* |
| **Mark as no-show** | Organizers | **Only after the appointment has started.** The UI has no button for this; Atlas and the API do |
| **Accept, decline or leave an invitation** | You, for **your own** invitations only | Leaving works only on an appointment you accepted |
| **Create, edit or delete professionals** | Calendar Admin | Same rules as Settings — deleting is refused while they have upcoming appointments |
| **Create, edit or delete services** | Calendar Admin | Includes members, weights, booking rules and turning [Google Meet](/en/calendar/google-meet) on |

<Warning>
  **Atlas follows the same permissions as the UI.** If you can't cancel an appointment in the agenda, Atlas can't either — it tells you who can (the appointment's organizer).
</Warning>

## It messages real clients

Booking, moving, cancelling and confirming send the same WhatsApp messages as doing it by hand — reminders, confirmations, reschedule and cancellation notices, per your [Notifications](/en/calendar/notifications) settings. So **Atlas asks you to confirm before it acts**, and its answer lists the messages sent or queued.

## Undo

Each change Atlas makes can be undone from the conversation. Undo runs the **opposite operation** through the calendar, not a quiet rollback:

| Undo of | What happens |
| - | - |
| **A booking** | A real cancellation — Google event and Meet link removed, reminders retired, a cancellation notice sent if notices are on |
| **A reschedule** | Moves it back to the old time and professional, re-checking availability. If the old slot is gone, undo is refused and nothing changes |
| **A status change** | Reverts it when the old status can be set again; otherwise refused |
| **A cancellation** | **Always refused** — a cancelled appointment can't be restored. Book it again |
| **A new professional or service** | Deleted — refused while it already has upcoming appointments |

## What Atlas can't do

| Not available | Detail |
| - | - |
| **Adding or removing guests and professionals** | Do it in the appointment window. See [Participants](/en/calendar/participants) |
| **Booking a group or adding guests at booking** | Atlas books one client per appointment |
| **Granting Can reschedule or Can edit** | Only in the appointment window |
| **Answering someone else's invitation** | Admins do that in the appointment window — **Answer for this professional** |
| **Reading Google Calendar event details** | Atlas doesn't expose what's on anyone's Google Calendar |
| **Restoring a cancelled appointment** | Undo of a cancellation is always refused |
